Engine Integration Technical Lead

BLUE ORIGIN•Spokane, WA
•$145,188 - $203,263

About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin’s Engines business unit, which designs, develops, manufactures, and tests engines and propulsion systems. The Engine Integration Technical Lead will help technically mature the BE-7 Lunar Lander Engine to meet customer requirements and mission parameters across the product lifecycle, from initial requirements through final delivery. The team’s work includes design evolution and production-rate readiness, with design releases for primary and secondary structures, insulation, pressurized cryogenic fluid systems, and engine configuration. The role applies lessons from engine assembly and testing to improve manufacturability and operation. The technical lead guides propulsion engineers in developing engine integration and design solutions, maintaining a release schedule aligned with BE-7 program milestones, and owning technical risk. The role uses engineering judgment to develop hardware solutions while balancing producibility, mass, and cost. It also includes mentoring, training, and collaborating with peers on assignments such as engine variant design and component-performance troubleshooting. The position calls for careful attention to detail, management of multiple technical challenges, and strong engineering-release, configuration-management, GD&T, and mechanical-design expertise.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of proven experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle component or assembly design, manufacturing, and test.
  • Strong mechanical design skills, including structural sizing, analysis, and calculations.
  • Advanced skills in CAD and large-assembly model management and configuration.
  • Mastery of GD&T implementation and stack-up analysis using ASME Y14.5.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace materials, treatments, and manufacturing.
  • B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management and its application in development and production environments.
  • Extreme attention to detail and ability to balance several technical challenges.

Nice To Haves
