About The Position

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development is recruiting an End User Computing Specialist I for its Information Technology capabilities. This Skilled Service position provides technical support to agency customers, requiring analytical and organizational skills, the ability to communicate technical information clearly, and strong customer service. The role includes installing software and computer images, deploying hardware, repairing computer hardware, troubleshooting network connectivity, and assisting users with personal computers and mobile devices. Candidates may be required to purchase hardware and software from vendors and must be able to establish and maintain professional relationships with agency customers. The position is based at 7800 Harkins Road, Lanham, Maryland, across from the New Carrollton Metro stop. The posting describes a hybrid telework option and a flexible work schedule.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
One year of experience tracking, responding to, and resolving Help Desk calls from users in an organization with extensive program integration and reliance on technology.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds without assistance.
Analytical and organizational skills, ability to communicate technical information to customers, and customer service skills.
Candidates may substitute additional qualifying experience responding to and resolving computer help desk calls or operating computer equipment for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Candidates may substitute nine credit hours in personal computer applications at an accredited institution for the required experience.
Candidates may substitute completion of a computer repair certification program, such as CompTIA A+ or an equivalent program, for the required experience.
Candidates may substitute qualifying U.S. Armed Forces non-commissioned officer experience in Cyber and Information Systems classifications or specialty codes in the Information Technology field on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Experience installing, troubleshooting, and resolving errors in Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Experience configuring and troubleshooting errors with iOS devices.
