About The Position

Responds in an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, non-emergencies and interfacility transports. Provides efficient and immediate basic life support care to the patient at the scene and enroute to and in the hospital. Treats patients in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, standards and protocols.

Requirements

EMT-Basic certification
Familiarity with Indiana EMS Commission curriculum
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and patient rights
Proficiency in EMT skills including communications, medical equipment, cleaning procedures, office equipment and tools
Knowledge of applicable safety policies and traffic laws for ambulance operation
Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with others
Maintain in-service education as prescribed by the Indiana State EMS Agency

Help maintain a clean and hazard free work environment by performing cleaning chores
Account for, check operability of, and certify that all required and basic equipment are operational, functional and located on the assigned unit prior to each shift.

Responsibilities

Provide an assessment of patients, determine necessary care and deliver emergency services by utilizing appropriate medical techniques and equipment.
Satisfactorily perform all skills and procedures as designed by the Indiana EMS Commission curriculum.
Document patient information, condition and treatment while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.
Take pride in providing a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for patients.
Use appropriate EMT skills to provide care including communications, medical equipment, cleaning procedures, office equipment and tools.
Operate an ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies, and traffic laws related to the operation of emergency medical response vehicles.
Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow EMTs.
Maintain his or her in-service education as prescribed by the Indiana State EMS Agency.
