About The Position

AMR is hiring a full-time Dispatcher in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for ambulance and transportation services. The Dispatcher assigns and routes transportation requests and communicates clearly in all situations to support quality customer care. The position pays $21.12 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimal medical training or telecommunications experience, or at least one year of experience as an EMS or public safety dispatcher.
• Skilled in reading and writing English.
• Ability to communicate clearly by radio and telephone.
• Ability to record, transmit, and report information accurately.
• Ability to use assigned equipment efficiently.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Typing skills with the speed and accuracy needed to process emergency and non-emergency calls efficiently.
• Ability to understand basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Apply the concepts of Emergency Medical Dispatch in accordance with Principles of Emergency Medical Dispatch and AMR-customized protocols as a minimum standard of care.
• Allocate EMS resources using appropriate decision-making rules and approved protocols.
• Complete accurate and complete paperwork and data entry for the shift, including assigned State Run Report data.
• Generate applicable reports and check them for accuracy.
• Help locate incident scenes and select the safest, fastest route using available locator aids.
• Relay instructions from supervisors, messages, and emergency information.
• Maintain current knowledge of company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and memorandums.
• Follow established parameters and formats when receiving service requests.
• Know how to use assigned equipment, including computers, printers, 911 equipment, recording devices, and telephones.
