About The Position

Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group is seeking an Employee Support Coordinator for their Dark Harbor event. This role serves as the direct link between employees and their pay, owning payroll support processing for the event's operation, including a large seasonal workforce. The coordinator will be the go-to resource for employees with questions or concerns related to their compensation. This position requires a strong understanding of California wage and hour law, including daily overtime, meal and rest period compliance. Accuracy, responsiveness, and trust are essential as the role focuses on ensuring employees feel supported so they can create extraordinary guest experiences.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of California payroll processing experience required.
  • Direct, hands-on experience applying California wage and hour law—daily overtime, meal/rest premiums, split shifts, and final pay rules.
  • Proficiency with a cloud-based HRIS/payroll platform—Paycom experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines without errors.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills—you are approachable, clear, and calm when employees are frustrated or confused.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Sheets).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting a seasonal or large variable-hour workforce strongly preferred.
  • Entertainment, hospitality, or events-industry background a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the dedicated, employee-facing point of contact for all payroll-related questions and concerns for the team.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to employee inquiries related to timekeeping, paychecks, and data updates.
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies quickly, escalating to the Payroll when appropriate and always closing the loop with the employee.
  • Coordinate with location managers and supervisors to ensure timekeeping accuracy, communicate payroll deadlines, and resolve submission issues before each processing cycle.
  • Communicate payroll schedule changes, system updates, or California compliance-related impacts to employees and site leadership in a clear and timely manner.
  • Apply and monitor California-specific wage and hour rules, including daily overtime (over 8 hours), double time (over 12 hours), and seventh-consecutive-day rules.
  • Track and audit meal period compliance—ensuring first and second meal periods are provided in accordance with California law and that missed period premiums are captured and paid correctly.
  • Monitor rest period compliance and ensure rest period premium pay is applied when required.
  • Maintain data integrity within Paycom through regular audits, record updates, and system reconciliations.
  • Support internal and external payroll audits by preparing documentation and records.
