About The Position

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining departmental policies and procedures for Employee Health. Key functions include conducting pre-employment medical examinations, annual employee health tests (including N95 mask fit testing), and providing care for on-duty work-related injuries and exposures. The role involves assessing employees returning to work after medical leave or accidents, acting as a liaison with the Emergency Department, and consulting with Human Resources on Workers Compensation issues. The nurse will monitor hospital-wide compliance with Employee Health policies, maintain documentation, and may provide in-service programs. Professional growth is encouraged through continuous learning and participation in educational activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse’s license State of Missouri.
  • Clinical experience as a staff nurse, public health nurse or the equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN degree preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures.
  • Conducts pre-employment medical examinations, including health history, physical exam, and required tests/x-rays.
  • Conducts annual required tests for all employees, including N95 mask fit testing.
  • Reports and cares for on-duty work-related injuries and needle puncture, scalpel, or similar wounds.
  • Meets with employees returning to work after medical leave or lost time accident, examining paperwork for proper release.
  • Provides first aid or acts as a liaison with the Emergency Department for first aid.
  • Available for consultation with employees on basic health issues.
  • Serves as a resource person to all departments on Employee Health issues.
  • Works in consultation with Human Resources on Workers Compensation issues.
  • Monitors Hospital wide compliance with Employee Health policies.
  • May provide in-service programs when needed.
  • Initiates and completes all required documentation and reports for the Employee Health Department.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
