About The Position

A highly respected national law firm is seeking an Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Associate Attorney to join its Chicago office. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in advising businesses, private equity sponsors, and other organizations on sophisticated employee benefits, executive compensation, and ERISA matters.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of employee benefits, executive compensation, ERISA, or related tax experience
  • Experience reviewing employee benefit plans, compensation arrangements, and executive compensation programs in connection with mergers & acquisitions transactions
  • Experience designing, implementing, and advising on employee benefit and executive compensation programs for businesses and organizations of varying sizes and structures
  • Experience advising clients on qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, deferred compensation arrangements, equity compensation plans, and executive compensation matters
  • Experience with ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and related employee benefits regulations
  • Experience supporting corporate transactions, including due diligence, transaction structuring, and post-closing integration matters
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work directly with clients and provide practical, business-focused advice
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required
  • Illinois bar admission required or ability to become admitted

Responsibilities

  • Advising businesses, private equity sponsors, and other organizations on sophisticated employee benefits, executive compensation, and ERISA matters.
  • Reviewing employee benefit plans, compensation arrangements, and executive compensation programs in connection with mergers & acquisitions transactions.
  • Designing, implementing, and advising on employee benefit and executive compensation programs for businesses and organizations of varying sizes and structures.
  • Advising clients on qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, deferred compensation arrangements, equity compensation plans, and executive compensation matters.
  • Advising clients on ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and related employee benefits regulations.
  • Supporting corporate transactions, including due diligence, transaction structuring, and post-closing integration matters.
  • Providing practical, business-focused advice directly to clients.
