About The Position

MedVet is a fast-growing emergency and specialty veterinary provider with practices nationwide, offering advanced medical treatments and innovations. The Emergency Licensed Veterinary Technician joins a collaborative clinical team and supports patients, clients, and teammates while demonstrating teamwork, leadership, and compassion.

The Emergency team is suited to technicians who enjoy a fast-paced environment, can shift gears quickly, and can handle stressful critical situations. The role involves assessing and prioritizing incoming patients, assisting veterinarians with care and procedures, providing nursing care to hospitalized patients, communicating with clients and the patient care team, and performing laboratory and anesthesia-related duties.

Requirements

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Employment is dependent upon passing a drug screen and background check.

• Previous emergency veterinary experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize them based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education, including home care instructions, medication indications and adverse reactions, and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist the DVM with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
