About The Position

Emergency Pet Care is seeking a full-time or part-time Emergency Veterinarian to provide urgent and emergency veterinary care at its emergency-only hospital serving Trussville, Birmingham, and surrounding Alabama communities. The role combines a varied emergency caseload with advanced clinical resources and support from experienced veterinary technicians and other staff. The veterinarian assesses patients, guides diagnostic decisions, and manages emergency treatment with sound clinical judgment, clear communication, and composure under pressure. The hospital provides triage, diagnostics, stabilization, and treatment during nights, weekends, and holidays. Its resources include digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory diagnostics, oxygen therapy, fluid therapy, critical care monitoring, an emergency surgical suite, endoscopy and gastroscope capabilities, blood transfusion protocols, and access to radiology and specialty consultations. Mentorship and continued professional development are available, and veterinarians at all experience levels, including new graduates, are encouraged to apply. The hospital offers flexible scheduling for full-time and part-time positions. Shifts are shared across the team, with overnight coverage supported by experienced technicians and support staff. Hospital operating hours are Friday–Monday, 24 hours, and Tuesday–Thursday, 6 p.m.–7 a.m.; these are hospital hours and do not specify an individual veterinarian’s shift. Compensation is tailored to experience and availability and may be a base salary or hourly rate.
