About The Position

Emergency Pet Care is seeking a full-time or part-time Emergency Veterinarian for its emergency-only hospital serving Trussville, Birmingham, and surrounding Alabama communities. The role combines a varied emergency caseload with advanced clinical resources and support from experienced technicians. The veterinarian assesses patients, guides diagnostic decisions, and manages emergency treatment for urgent and life-threatening conditions. The hospital provides triage, diagnostics, stabilization, and treatment during nights, weekends, and holidays. Its clinical resources include digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory diagnostics, oxygen therapy and cages, fluid therapy, critical care monitoring, an emergency surgical suite, endoscopy and gastroscope capabilities, blood transfusion protocols, and access to radiology and specialty consultations. The position is open to veterinarians at all experience levels, including new graduates. Emergency or critical care experience is preferred but not required. Mentorship and continued professional development are available. The role calls for independent clinical judgment, resilience in demanding cases, clear communication, and collaboration with veterinary technicians and support staff. Scheduling options are flexible, with shifts shared across the team and overnight coverage supported by experienced technicians and support staff. The hospital is open 24 hours Friday through Monday and from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. These hours describe hospital operations, not an individual veterinarian’s schedule.
