About The Position
The Animal Emergency Clinic of Springfield is seeking a part-time veterinarian with emergency medicine experience to join its emergency and critical care team. The role consists of eight shifts per month. Weekday shifts are primarily overnight, while weekend shifts may include a combination of day and overnight coverage; four of the eight monthly shifts occur on weekends. The ideal candidate is a confident, compassionate clinician who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values teamwork and high standards of care. The clinic provides emergency and critical care when regular veterinary practices are closed. It is veterinarian-owned and supported by thirteen local veterinary hospitals, with an emphasis on collaborative, high-quality medicine and up-to-date emergency care. The position offers a well-supported team, a challenging emergency caseload, strong technical support, and opportunities to sharpen and expand emergency skills. The clinic is in Springfield, Illinois, a small city with an affordable cost of living, convenient commutes, cultural attractions, restaurants, community events, and access to outdoor recreation.
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a skilled support team.
- Strong clinical, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality emergency care.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in emergency medicine is strongly preferred.
