Emergency Veterinarian AND ER Department Head
About The Position
MedVet Austin is hiring an experienced emergency clinician to serve as an Emergency Veterinarian and ER Department Head in its 24/7 emergency and multi-specialty hospital. This full-time position combines clinical work—approximately 10–12 shifts per month—with leadership of the ER team. The successful candidate will help build and lead an outstanding emergency service, working collaboratively with clinical caregivers, specialists, and medical leaders to provide high-quality patient care. MedVet Austin serves the greater Austin and Central Texas region. Its emergency and specialty services are supported by modern equipment, an experienced clinical team, and access to MedVet’s national network of specialists and collaborative resources. MedVet radiologists can review imaging studies and provide consultation when needed. Requirements
- Three or more years of experience as an emergency clinician.

Responsibilities
- Foster a culture that supports the development of engaged and empowered caregivers.
- Work collaboratively with the Medical Director to oversee Emergency Services within the hospital.
- Serve as a liaison between Emergency Services and specialty departments to support seamless case management and patient care.
- Support the Medical Director in the strategic growth and daily operations of the ER department.
- Participate in ER doctor recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and training.
- Create and maintain the ER doctor schedule.
- Help provide an exceptional referral partner experience and assist with resolving client concerns.
