About The Position

The Center for Youth, started BY YOUTH FOR YOUTH, partners with youth to realize their full potential by creating opportunities, removing barriers, and promoting social justice. Our free, confidential, and voluntary 13-bed shelter serves youth aged 12-17 for up to 30 days. Counselors provide nonjudgmental, individualized support to help youth reunite with their families or find alternative, stable housing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field AND 1-2 years' experience in a residential youth program OR Equivalent
  • A valid Driver's license
  • Counseling approaches and techniques
  • Crisis prevention

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of wake-up, clean-up, daily chores, and bedtime
  • Distribution of medications and appropriate documentation
  • Liaison with Intake and Emergency Shelter Support (Counseling) teams
  • Individual counseling and mentoring
  • After-hour response, assessment, and intake of youth in need
  • Development and supervision of social, cultural, and recreational activities
  • Crisis/conflict/prevention/intervention, response, and intervention
  • Maintenance of accurate and timely program records
  • Maintenance of facility and grounds
  • Daily meal planning and preparation
