About The Position

Open Door Mission has been restoring hope and changing lives for Rochester's men, women, and children since 1952. This role at the Samaritan's House Emergency Shelter & RAP Program involves operating a 24/7 drop-in warming center and a 60-bed men's dorm. Employees provide support and encouragement to adult guests while maintaining safety and security standards. The organization seeks individuals who are excited about balancing professional best practices with Christ-centered compassion and who wish to provide meaning to those experiencing homelessness, addiction, or trauma.

Requirements

  • Willingness to receive training and provide assistance with CPR, First Aid, and Narcan administration.
  • Interest in peer-to-peer employment opportunities, particularly in mental health and addiction.
  • Experience or desire to expand experience within the homeless sub-population.
  • 3 years' experience or peer coach certificate or equivalent is preferred for starting pay.

  • Experience in the behavioral health field.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a 24/7 drop-in, warming center.
  • Manage a 60-bed men's dorm.
  • Provide support and encouragement to adult guests.

  • Provide assistance with CPR, First Aid, and Narcan administration as needed.
