About The Position

As a Shelter Supervisor, you will provide leadership, operational oversight, and staff support within our Emergency Shelter program. This position is responsible for supervising Youth Care Specialists and Lead Youth Care Specialists while helping maintain a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment for youth receiving services. This role supports shelter operations, staff development, program implementation, and collaboration with families and community partners.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age in accordance with program and licensing requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth in crisis and/or families in a human services setting
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 points on driving record
  • Proof of insurance meeting agency requirements
  • Ability to complete required agency trainings, including defensive driving and crisis intervention training
  • Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and reliability
  • Communicates effectively with youth, families, and team members
  • Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries
  • Supports a safe, respectful, and structured environment for youth and staff

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field
  • Experience working within residential care, shelter, or behavioral health environments
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, youth development, and behavior management practices

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and overseeing daily shelter operations and programming
  • Supervising, coaching, and supporting Youth Care staff
  • Assisting with onboarding, scheduling, supervision, and performance management activities
  • Reviewing and approving staff timesheets and scheduling needs
  • Supporting compliance with licensing, accreditation, contractual, and agency requirements
  • Collaborating with probation officers, caseworkers, therapists, medical providers, schools, and families
  • Participating in family team meetings and discharge planning efforts
  • Supporting implementation of trauma-informed programming and structured activities
  • Assisting with crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts
  • Supporting data collection and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Participating in staff meetings, trainings, and agency initiatives
  • Assisting with operational and supply coordination as needed
