About The Position

MedVet is seeking a collaborative, driven Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician to provide emergency veterinary care in a fast-paced clinical environment. The role involves assessing and prioritizing incoming patients, supporting veterinarians with examinations and procedures, and providing monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients. The technician also communicates with clients and the patient care team, performs laboratory work, and assists with anesthesia and sedation. The proposed schedule is Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The hiring range is $18.75–$35.00 per hour, based on experience, and the position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

State Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
Prior veterinary experience required.
Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as needed.
Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize care based on assessment.
Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
Educate clients on home care instructions, medications and their indications and adverse reactions, and general wellness updates for hospitalized patients.
Assist the veterinarian with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
