About The Position

This is a dynamic new position for a Registered Nurse (RN) to work across multiple Emergency Medicine Service areas, including SMH ED, SMH ED Obs Unit, Strong West ED, and 6 Urgent Care locations. The role functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience, under the direction of the Nurse Manager, to build competency in direct patient care. The RN will contribute to unit activities, support the enhancement of the care delivery system, and assist peers. This is a team-oriented and independent role requiring 6-week assignments to augment staffing in designated areas. Responsibilities include direct patient care, navigating the patient encounter with triage, treating a diverse population for various conditions, and coordinating care. The ideal candidate must possess strong assessment and organizational skills, excellent communication, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Less than one year of experience as a nurse.
  • BLS, ACLS, & PALS certifications.
  • Strong assessment skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to be flexible to the changing needs of the assignment.

  • Critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience.
  • Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, continues to build competency in the provision of direct patient care.
  • Contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
  • Supports peers in the delivery of patient care services.
  • Works across multiple Emergency Medicine Service areas including SMH ED, SMH ED Obs Unit, Strong West ED, and 6 Urgent Care locations.
  • Works 6-week assignments to augment staffing in designated areas.
  • Provides direct patient care navigating the patient encounter with patient triage.
  • Treats a diverse population (including pediatric) for everything from splinters to strokes to traumatic injuries.
  • Coordinates care.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Is flexible to the changing needs of the assignment.
