About The Position

This position functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the nurse will continue to build competency in the provision of direct patient care. The role contributes to unit activities and supports the enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level. The nurse will also support peers in the delivery of patient care services. Full-time and part-time positions are available. The unit provides care to an adult population with a variety of medical diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, GI bleed, diabetes, alcohol and drug withdrawals, sickle cell disease, cardiac disease, renal and liver diseases, peritoneal dialysis, and telemetry. While 6-1200 is a general medical unit, Peritoneal Dialysis is a subspecialty expertise that supports the entire institution. Requirements

  • Less than one year of prior experience in acute care.
  • Plan for a two year commitment upon program completion.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to care for a varied patient population in a changing environment.
  • Good effective communication skills.
