About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Acute Medicine Unit. This role is for a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience, functioning under the direction of the Nurse Manager to build competency in direct patient care. The nurse will contribute to unit activities, support the enhancement of the care delivery system, and assist peers. New graduates are eligible for the med/surg Residency Program, designed to help novice graduate nurses transition to competent professional nurses. This position offers the opportunity to work within an all RN model of care team, specializing in the care of a diverse spectrum of acute and complex medical patients. Requirements

  • Requires a Diploma, Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Active New York State RN license in good standing.
  • Level I Applicants will have less than 6-12 months of RN experience.
  • Level II Applicants will have a minimum of 6-12 months of RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience.
  • Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, continues to build competency in the provision of direct patient care.
  • Contributes to unit activities and supports enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
  • Supports peers in the delivery of patient care services.
  • Assumes the charge nurse role (Level II).
  • Actively participates in unit/service activities.
  • Supports co-workers.
  • Assesses unit needs.
