About The Position
The University of Rochester is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Adult Admission Unit. This role functions as a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience, working under the direction of the Nurse Manager to build competency in direct patient care. The position contributes to unit activities, supports the enhancement of the care delivery system, and assists peers in patient care services. The unit is a 20-bed inpatient adult boarder unit with a focus on admissions and a 24-48 hour length of stay. It specializes in care for a diverse spectrum of acute and complex medical patients, offering an exciting, fast-paced, rapid turnover environment where nurses demonstrate strong critical thinking and organizational skills. The role involves providing direct care to patients across the age spectrum in a collaborative environment, requiring creativity, flexibility, teamwork, motivation, and excellent communication skills. New Graduates (level 1) are eligible for the med/surg Residency Program, designed to help novice graduate nurses transition to competent professional nurses. This program requires less than one year of prior acute care experience and a two-year commitment upon completion.
Requirements
- Less than one year of experience in acute care.

- Must be creative, flexible, collaborative, motivated, and possess excellent communication skills.
- Plan for a two-year commitment upon program completion (for new graduates in the residency program).
