About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for an Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) in a 22-bed Emergency Department (ED) with an annual volume of 32,000 patients. The ED sees an average of 20-25 patients per provider per shift. Physician coverage is available 24/7. The facility is a 146-bed hospital. This is a long-term permanent search, and the role is offered as an independent contractor (1099). Credentialing takes approximately 14 days.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Must be enrolled in NC Medicaid and/or PECOS
  • Minimum 1-year Emergency Medicine experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in North Carolina
  • National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
