Emergency Medicine - Full Time - NP/PA
About The Position
This is a full-time position in Emergency Medicine for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). The role involves performing complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, prescribing necessary treatment, and ensuring quality patient care under indirect physician supervision. Responsibilities include coordinating diagnostic procedures, patient education, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with the supervising physician. The position also involves participating in research, preparing statistical reports, and teaching students and residents. Accurate medical record documentation, continuing education, and adherence to age-specific care guidelines are essential. The work environment is fast-paced with long hours, requiring professionalism and customer service skills.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- PA Licensure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain composure and work efficiently under pressure
- Ability to perform complex patient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule

Responsibilities
- Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in diagnosing emergency medical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and service for quality patient care.
- Records data and tentative conclusions for review by physician.
- Coordinates and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.
- Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
- Carries out complex patient care services under indirect physician supervision using advanced medical knowledge.
- Monitors progress of patients, maintain a record of the patient's progress, and consults with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
- Plans and schedules work for the physician's health team ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing, space and facilities for subsequent performance of assigned duties.
- Participates in basic science and clinical research projects conducted by supervising physician.
- Prepares statistical reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
- Teaches students, residents and interns in complex techniques and procedures, which are unique to Emergency Medicine.
- Ensures complete and accurate documentation in the medical record of assessment and plan of care.
- Participates in continuing education in emergency/ urgent care.
- Remains up to date with department and hospital policy and guidelines.
- Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
