About The Position

Saint Mary's Hospital EMS in Waterbury, Connecticut, is hiring a full-time Emergency Medical Technician. The EMT assesses patients’ injuries or illnesses at the scene, establishes treatment consistent with state licensure and protocols, and communicates pertinent information to medical personnel directly involved in patient care. EMTs transport sick or injured patients to or between appropriate medical facilities or residences, respond to service requests according to dispatcher direction and response priority, and float to other EMS coverage areas as needed. The position has rotating shifts and alternating weekend and holiday work.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Completion of an accredited EMT program.
• Current Connecticut EMT license in good standing.
• AHA CPR certification in good standing.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ injuries or illnesses at the scene.
• Establish treatment consistent with state licensure and protocols.
• Communicate pertinent information to medical personnel directly involved in the patient’s care.
• Transport sick or injured patients to or between appropriate medical facilities or residences.
• Respond to service requests in an optimal manner and according to the priority directed by the dispatcher.
• Float to other EMS coverage areas based on need.
