About The Position
The Emergency Medical Technician assesses and provides basic management for medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies under the supervision of a staff nurse and/or physician. The role assists with patient care according to individual patient needs and within the EMT’s scope of practice. It also helps maintain a safe environment and performs under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience; required for new hires effective April 2014.
- Basic EMT training or emergency room experience.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current, if required by the facility.
- Current PALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current, if required by the facility.
- Certified or licensed EMT by the state certifying agency/entity, if required by the facility.
