About The Position
Sentara Health is hiring an Emergency Department Technician for the Emergency Department at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. This is a part-time, 24-hour-per-week, day-shift position. The technician assists physicians, advanced practitioners, and nurses in implementing plans of care for emergency and minor emergency patients, and performs patient procedures and treatments under their supervision. De-escalation and physical intervention training must be completed within 15 days of hire. BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous clinical experience.
- New incumbents must meet at least one of these qualifications in addition to the minimum education requirement: EMT-B with state or national certification at hire; successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School as a qualified MMAC candidate; or current enrollment in a clinical program (such as RN, LPN, Respiratory, or Physical Therapy) with at least one semester completed.
- Candidates previously employed in the Sentara ED Tech job code within the past two years may be considered in lieu of the listed qualification criteria.
- Complete de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
- Obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
