About The Position

Sugar Land Veterinary Specialty and Emergency (SLVS) is seeking an experienced Emergency Doctor to join their multi-disciplinary hospital. This role also functions as the Emergency Department Head, providing an opportunity to combine clinical expertise with leadership. SLVS has been a key part of the South Texas veterinary community since 2007, offering advanced referral and emergency services in a 19,000-square-foot facility. The hospital emphasizes a culture of shared learning through daily rounds for peer-to-peer mentoring and support. This focus on growth applies to support staff as well, with structured career paths and a commitment to skill enhancement. The hospital includes specialties such as Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Critical Care, Oncology, and Imaging. Requirements

  • DVM degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency medicine, ideally in a specialty hospital
  • Strong clinical skills and the ability to manage a diverse emergency caseload
  • Demonstrated leadership ability or interest in leadership development
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients during scheduled clinical shifts
  • Responsible for the Emergency doctor team schedule
  • Oversee daily operations of the ER department in collaboration with hospital leadership
  • Support, mentor and guide emergency clinicians and support staff
  • Participate in monthly Department Head meetings and contribute to hospital‑wide initiatives
  • Assist in developing and implementing departmental protocols, workflows, and quality‑of‑care standards
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment
