About The Position
Sugar Land Veterinary Specialty and Emergency (SLVS) is seeking an experienced Emergency Doctor to join their multi-disciplinary hospital. This role also serves as the Emergency Department Head, offering an opportunity to combine clinical excellence with departmental leadership. SLVS has been providing high-level referral and emergency services since 2007 in a 19,000-square-foot facility. The hospital fosters a culture of shared learning with daily rounds for peer-to-peer mentoring and structured career paths for support staff. It is a forward-thinking environment that encourages skill advancement and knowledge sharing with specialists and ER colleagues, promoting a collaborative, friendly, and supportive atmosphere focused on maintaining a positive culture while striving for medical excellence. Specialties include Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Critical Care, Oncology, and Imaging. The fully equipped and staffed ER and ICU support high-standard case management.
Requirements
- DVM degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency medicine, ideally in a specialty hospital
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to manage a diverse emergency caseload
- Demonstrated leadership ability or interest in leadership development
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients during scheduled clinical shifts
- Responsible for the Emergency doctor team schedule
- Oversee daily operations of the ER department in collaboration with hospital leadership
- Support, mentor and guide emergency clinicians and support staff
- Participate in monthly Department Head meetings and contribute to hospital-wide initiatives
- Assist in developing and implementing departmental protocols, workflows, and quality-of-care standards
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment
