About The Position

The Eligibility Technician 1 is an entry-level eligibility position on a statewide workflow team in local Public Assistance offices. The role involves case management and workflow with limited interpretation and application of policies and procedures. As a first point of contact for clients through channels such as the Virtual Contact Center, office lobbies, and non-lobby access points, the technician performs technical eligibility determination work. This requires attention to detail and application of policies, regulations, and processes so Alaskans in need receive timely benefit determinations, accurate information, and guidance to resources. The Division of Public Assistance supports Alaskans in need by providing basic living expenses and promoting self-sufficiency. It values respectful service, cultural, geographic, and economic diversity, responsible program management, and continuous improvement. The department offers opportunities to develop skills and advance within the agency, as well as a competitive benefits package, flexible work schedules, and job stability. The positions are open to Alaska residents. Current locations include Anchorage, Bethel, and Juneau; depending on the location of the most qualified candidate, positions may also be located in Fairbanks, Homer, Kenai, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Nome, Sitka, or Wasilla. Seven positions are to be filled.
