About The Position

Premier Cooperative is an Illinois farmer-owned cooperative providing agricultural commodities and energy products. It employs approximately 100 people across 26 grain elevators surrounding the Champaign, Illinois area. The Elevator Operator performs grain receiving, storage, handling, drying, blending, and loading onto trucks and rail cars. The role monitors stored-grain condition and inventory levels and maintains and cleans assigned grain facilities and equipment to help provide a safe environment. Operators are cross-trained to perform a variety of tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays during peak seasons.
Ability to climb regularly and no fear of heights.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Basic mechanical aptitude.
Ability to frequently climb, stand, walk, and stoop; work outdoors in all weather conditions; and lift 50 pounds or more.

Responsibilities

Follow cooperative safety and environmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
Load and unload grain by truck and rail car; segregate, maintain, and monitor inventory quality and condition during drying, aeration, and blending as directed by a supervisor.
Complete tasks independently.
Participate in and document housekeeping and preventative maintenance of assigned facilities.
Maintain a courteous, polite, and helpful attitude with team members, customers, vendors, and contractors, promoting a positive Premier experience.
Complete pre-trip inspections as required.
Maintain the general appearance of Premier facilities, including elevators, grounds, and buildings.
Assist team members at other facilities when needed.
Work extended hours as needed.
Arrive on time and ready to work with a neat and clean appearance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
