About The Position

BASIS Phoenix South is seeking a 1st Grade Elementary Teacher for an immediate start. The role is an Elementary Learning Expert Teacher (LET) position in a co-teaching model. Subject Expert Teachers (SETs) handle the main instruction, allowing the LET to focus on students’ individual learning needs and outcomes rather than preparing multiple lessons each day.

The Phoenix South campus is a Title I school serving a high percentage of students from low-income families. In the K–3 classrooms, two elementary teachers work together with students. LETs cultivate a joyful learning culture, customize education to meet individual student needs, and use their pedagogical expertise to support student achievement. Teachers have autonomy and academic freedom to create dynamic lessons within the BASIS Charter School Curriculum and collaborate within a professional learning community.

The position is responsible for one cohort of students, working with the SET for each class period, providing individualized or small-group instruction, and maintaining classroom standards of behavior. Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Demonstrated passion for student achievement and directed effort to raise individual student outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for one cohort of students and lead them through classroom transitions during the day.
• Collaborate with the Subject Expert Teacher (SET) for each class period.
• Use expertise in elementary education teaching methods to provide individualized or small-group instruction that meets students’ differentiated needs.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Customize education to meet the individual needs of each student and support individual student outcomes.
• Collaborate with fellow educators in the school’s professional learning community.
