About The Position

BASIS Phoenix North is seeking a 1st Grade Elementary Teacher to join its team. The role is a Learning Expert Teacher (LET) position in a co-teaching model: elementary classrooms are co-taught by two teachers, with Subject Expert Teachers (SETs) handling the main instruction. This structure allows the LET to focus on students’ individual results and differentiated learning needs rather than preparing multiple lessons each day.

The LET helps cultivate a joyful learning culture, customizes education to students’ needs, and uses expertise in elementary education to support student learning and achievement. The teacher is responsible for one cohort of students and guides them through classroom transitions during the day.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Demonstrated passion for student achievement and directed effort to raise individual student outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for one cohort of students and lead them through classroom transitions during the day.
• Collaborate with the Subject Expert Teacher (SET) for each class period.
• Use expertise in elementary education teaching methods to provide individualized or small-group instruction that meets students’ differentiated needs.
• Establish and maintain student behavior standards needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
