About The Position

KIPP Nashville Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Support Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This role is crucial in supporting student learning across various school locations. KIPP Nashville is a network of high-performing, free, open-enrollment K-12 schools committed to positively impacting student outcomes in Nashville since 2005. Requirements

  • Conferred Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities

  • Flexibly support student learning, primarily as an in-building Substitute Teacher.
  • Engage flexibly and adaptively to the needs of students across the school as directed by the Principal, including covering classrooms for parental leave or extended absence, pulling small groups for intervention, classroom observations, and supporting school-wide procedures like lunch, arrival, and dismissal.
  • Serve as an interim teacher should a classroom teacher transition during the school year.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of individual student learning styles and needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the school team and colleagues across KIPP Nashville.
  • Help develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of students, teachers, and families.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and communicate openly with staff.
  • Develop positive rapport with students.
  • Create and foster a positive and calm learning environment.
  • Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school values, student management policies, and culture.
  • Establish and maintain strong communication lines with families.
  • Be available for open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and other events involving parents.
  • Make oneself available to students, parents, and other staff members.
  • Pursue challenging professional goals each year.
  • Offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues to create a professional working atmosphere conducive to change and improvement.
  • Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including pre-service training over the summer and weekly during the academic year.
