About The Position

KIPP Nashville Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Multilingual Learner Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This role is crucial in supporting students who are acquiring the English language by providing direct services and guidance to lead teachers. The ML Teacher will ensure compliance with Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) and meet the needs of multilingual students within a network of high-performing schools committed to academic excellence and student success from Pre-Kindergarten through college and career.

Requirements

  • Valid Tennessee teaching license with English as a Second Language Pre-K-12 (490) endorsement OR proof of enrollment in a job-embedded Educator Preparation Program
  • Conferred Bachelor’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload for students acquiring the English language and provide Direct Services.
  • Provide critical guidance to Lead Teachers to ensure compliance with Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) and meet the needs of multilingual students.
  • Provide Direct Services such as ELD Sheltered, Content Based Instruction, Structured English Instruction, and other TNDOE approved Service Models.
  • Meet with general education teachers to answer questions, provide strategies and supports, give input for ILPs, collaborate on lesson plans, and track student progress.
  • Work with General Education teachers to adapt and differentiate weekly lesson plans, assessments, and homework.
  • Identify and screen qualifying multilingual students using the Universal WIDA Screener or W-APT.
  • Use data to create and monitor Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district ML regulations.
  • Follow KIPP: Nashville Developed processes for entering and exiting students into services.
  • Administer and implement accommodations for relevant assessments (including WIDA screener and WIDA ACCESS, TNReady, and other content assessments).
  • Create and maintain ILPs for all ML students and former ML students.
  • Track transitional students (T1-T2) who have already exited to monitor growth or reassess services.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of individual student learning styles and needs.
  • Use progress-monitoring tools to analyze student results for modifying strategies and programming.
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Provide students with daily feedback on mastery performance in character and academics and plan for individual learning needs.
  • Demonstrate strong pedagogy.
  • Work collaboratively with the school team and those across KIPP Nashville.
  • Help develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of students, teachers, and families.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and communicate openly with staff.
  • Develop positive rapport with students.
  • Create and foster a positive and calm learning environment.
  • Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school values, student management policies, and culture.
  • Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progress.
  • Be available for open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and other events involving parents.
