The Spanish teacher teaches language arts and knowledge subjects—including science, social studies, and culture—as well as elective subjects such as art, music, and physical education, as part of AXIS’s 50/50 dual language immersion model. Depending on need, the role may support a veteran Spanish teacher and a teaching assistant. The daily schedule includes lunch and recess duties and planning time. Evidence-based, high-quality curricula and materials are provided. The teacher works with the English Language Arts and Math teachers, who teach the other half-day lessons in English to the same students at opposite times. The teacher delivers assigned content and Spanish literacy instruction exclusively in Spanish using Dual Language Immersion Core Instructional Strategies, creating an evidence-based language-learning experience that maximizes students’ spoken Spanish. The teacher plans and implements developmentally and linguistically appropriate, challenging instruction aligned with AXIS curricula and program guidelines; assesses academic and social progress; maintains records and reports; and adjusts instruction to meet individual needs. The role also includes classroom management and student safety, communication with parents, collaboration with school teams, professional development, and participation in school community activities. This is a full-time, exempt position. The application is accepted on an ongoing basis for a candidate pool for future openings on the Spanish team. Compensation is $35,000–$50,000, commensurate with experience. Retirement benefits are provided through the Colorado Public Employee Retirement Association, with an option for health benefits. Visa sponsorship is not available.
