The Spanish teacher teaches language arts and knowledge subjects, including science, social studies, and culture, as well as elective subjects such as art, music, and physical education, as part of AXIS’s 50/50 dual language immersion model. Depending on need, the teacher may support a veteran Spanish teacher and a teaching assistant. The daily schedule also includes lunch and recess duties and planning time. AXIS provides evidence-based, high-quality curricula and materials. The teacher works as a team with the English Language Arts and Math teachers, who teach the other half-day lessons in English to the same students at opposite times. The role teaches assigned content subjects and Spanish literacy skills exclusively in Spanish, using Dual Language Immersion Core Instructional Strategies and maximizing students’ spoken Spanish. The teacher plans developmentally and linguistically appropriate, challenging lessons aligned with AXIS core curricula and program guidelines; assesses academic and social progress; maintains records and prepares progress reports; and adjusts instruction to meet individual needs. The teacher also fosters a positive, safe classroom culture, communicates with parents, collaborates across school teams, participates in professional development and school community activities, and performs other duties supporting student learning and AXIS Academy’s mission. This is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation is $35,000–$50,000, commensurate with experience. The position includes retirement benefits through the Colorado Public Employee Retirement Association and an option for health benefits. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for a candidate pool for future openings on the Spanish team. Visa sponsorship is not available.
