This entry-level Electrician role is crucial for maintaining the electrical and electronic components of production machinery and equipment, as well as the facility's electrical infrastructure.

Requirements

Technical training; high school diploma plus 3 years of experience in production machine repair.
Ability to read and write English to interpret equipment manuals and work orders, perform required maintenance and service, and maintain inspection reports, downtime logs, and work orders.
Strong experience with PLC troubleshooting, installation, and repair of A/C D/C motors, and working with up to 600 volts.
Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
Basic computer, tablet, scanner, and iPad skills for recording information.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
Working knowledge of national electrical codes applied in the industrial arena.

Responsibilities

Complete required reports and paperwork, such as production data sheets and order documentation.
Perform electrical tasks including running new wire, bending conduit, installing switches, running electronic tests, cleaning contacts or circuit boards, replacing worn components, and oiling motors.
Assemble, install, inspect, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring and equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable codes.
Inspect and test electrical systems to identify hazards using testing devices like ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, locating causes, and performing repairs.
Respond timely to any electrical breakdown, removing defective parts and repairing to prevent recurrence.
Perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Perform mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
Work on systems with sensors, limit switches, motor controls, overload relays, PLCs, VFDs, solid-state devices, and monitors/displays.
Report equipment parts usage from stock to ensure accurate inventory and notify supervisors of parts/supplies needing to be ordered.
Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed.
Document all work to ensure accurate maintenance records, inform production operations of equipment status, and improve inter-shift communication.
