The Electrician Trainee position is part of a trainee program designed to facilitate the development of the Maintenance skilled trades workforce within the Mapleton Foundry. The position allows employees to gain the knowledge and skills required to become a 6E51 Electrician. A 36-month On-The-Job Learning (OJL) and Work Based Learning Program with college courses at Illinois Central College is required to graduate. Tuition, fees, and books are all covered expenses. This competency-based program provides instruction and experience in the replacement, repair, and troubleshooting of circuit boards, power supplies, lighting and lighting systems, motors and motor components, commercial wiring, programmable controllers, and automation systems. Progression and compensation while in this training program are based upon successful demonstration of competency in performing foundry electrician functions. You will earn 63 credit hours and graduate with an associate’s degree in applied science while attending ICC in the Industrial Electrical Technology Program. Each school day will be a paid 8-hour day for scheduled classes and study time. Non-school days will be spent in the Mapleton Foundry to complete OJT tasks.
