About The Position

General Motors is hiring qualified Industrial Electrician Journeypersons to work under minimal supervision. The role involves laying out, installing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on complicated electrical equipment and circuits, as well as troubleshooting and providing technical expertise on control systems. The position may be filled at the Journeyperson or Journeyperson In Training level; credentials and interview scoring determine status and pay. General Motors does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role. Relocation and travel expenses are the applicant’s responsibility.

Requirements

At least six years of related experience as an Electrician, or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade.
Satisfactorily complete General Motors’ hiring process requirements, including comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check.
Be at least 18 years of age.
Be eligible to work in the United States; GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
Be willing to work flexible shift hours, including day, afternoon, or night shifts, and overtime hours daily, weekends, and holidays on those shifts, with little notice.

Responsibilities

Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company procedures.
Maintain and repair electrical equipment.
Analyze and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions in equipment and related components, diagnosing and correcting problems promptly to avoid production delays.
Perform electrical preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
Promote teamwork and work with other departments.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
