About The Position

AVT Simulation is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to join their team in Oviedo, Florida. The role involves supporting the development, assembly, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and components for simulation products. This position values hands-on experience and practical skills over a college degree. The company specializes in providing training and simulation solutions for military and commercial applications, focusing on advanced simulation technology to enhance training effectiveness and improve operational readiness. AVT Simulation is dedicated to delivering high-quality products and services to its clients across various industries. This is not a remote position and requires 20% travel. The company plans to fill two roles for this position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Technician or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and circuits.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Must be US citizen to acquire security clearance.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively on a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possesses strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Computer, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Basic computer operating system (Linux, Windows).
  • Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational training or certification in electrical technology or a related field.
  • Prior experience with simulation technology or military systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with software tools for electrical design and simulation (e.g., AutoCAD, LabVIEW).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assembly and installation of electrical systems and components according to engineering specifications and technical drawings.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop innovative solutions and improvements for existing electrical designs.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Document procedures, test results, and technical specifications accurately for reference and future troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to other team members as needed.
