About The Position

Salute is seeking an Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for an onsite position in Royse City, Texas. Relocation assistance is available for candidates who are not local. Salute provides data center infrastructure services to clients worldwide, with a focus on sustainable solutions, reliability, and customer service. Reporting directly to the Data Center Manager and working in partnership with the Critical Facility Lead Engineer, the SME is the on-site technical authority for electrical infrastructure and owns technical standards and procedural architecture, including SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs. The role also provides technical guidance on training and qualification requirements for site personnel. Its primary focus is critical electrical infrastructure, with oversight responsibilities for mechanical and direct liquid cooling systems. The SME oversees complex de-energized switching and isolation evolutions, mentors and evaluates personnel, leads forensic root cause analyses, and provides QA/QC oversight of third-party subcontractors. The role supports development of the site Reference Library, reviews procedural playbooks, and oversees technical requirements and standards for qualification cards. The position operates on site during weekday day operations, with flexibility to interface across rotational 12-hour shifts and provide 24/7/365 technical escalation support for critical emergencies, commissioning and integrated systems testing, and planned outages. The base pay range is $125,000–$145,000 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; an HSA; gym discounts; mental health resources; discounted group life and AD&D and short- and long-term disability coverage; a 401(k) with employer contributions; PTO and paid holidays; and parental leave. Relocation assistance is available if the candidate is not local.

Requirements

  • At least 7 to 8+ years of progressive hands-on experience in electrical operations, maintenance, testing, commissioning, or field service engineering in mission-critical data centers, power generation, utilities, or high-availability industrial environments.
  • Expert-level theoretical and practical mastery of medium- and low-voltage power distribution, switchgear protection and control, protective relaying, standby diesel generators, static UPS topologies, battery systems, ATS/STS units, VFDs, overhead busway distribution, and interpretation of complex electrical one-lines and schematics.
  • Foundational and operational working knowledge of mission-critical mechanical, cooling, and building automation systems, including chillers, CRAHs, DOAS units, hydronic loops, CDUs, Facility Water Systems, closed-loop glycol/water chemistry (PG-25), and fire/life safety interfaces.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical P&IDs and trend charts and author operational procedures without requiring specialist mechanical licensure.
  • Demonstrated mastery in authoring zero-downtime MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs; identifying technical training requirements; supporting qualification program development; reviewing training content for technical accuracy; and establishing objective Qual Card grading rubrics.
  • Experience conducting forensic RCAs, enforcing NFPA 70E/NEC/OSHA standards, and governing third-party OEM vendor scopes within Grey/White Space contractual demarcations.
  • Strong proficiency with CMMS platforms, EPMS/BMS telemetry, CAD viewers, and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds; climb ladders up to 16 feet and multiple flights of stairs; and stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods or as needed.
  • Basic physical fitness and mobility to move efficiently through work environments and respond to emergencies; good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for work with components, test instruments, and connectors.
  • Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform detailed tasks while wearing required PPE, including safety glasses and arc-flash gear.
  • Ability to work indoors across varied temperature zones and outdoors in weather conditions that may include extreme temperatures, rain, or snow, and to work in elevated noise while wearing hearing protection.
  • Valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site's primary electrical safety technical authority, support the mechanical safety program, enforce compliance with LOTO, NFPA 70E, NEC, IEEE, and OSHA requirements, champion Stop Work Authority, and oversee safe de-energized switching, isolation, and annual outage evolutions.
  • Act as the on-site technical resource and authority for covered electrical systems outside the White Space, including power distribution, switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, batteries, generators, fuel systems, VFDs, ATS/STS units, and overhead busways and tap-off boxes through the Power Handoff Point.
  • Provide operational support and working-level technical oversight for mechanical and heat-rejection systems, including chillers, CRAHs, DOAS, CDUs, Facility Water Systems, PG-25 chemistry and pH testing, and nitrogen pressurization systems.
  • Partner with the Training Team to identify technical training needs, execute qualification requirements, review training materials, and support development of system one-line walkdown guides and emergency drill playbooks.
  • Partner with the Lead CFE to identify and address operator development needs.
  • Own the technical architecture and lifecycle of the site Reference Library; author, peer-review, and maintain SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and Emergency Ops Playbooks; incorporate operational feedback and enforce change management.
  • Provide technical gatekeeping and QA/QC for third-party OEMs and specialty contractors, validate vendor scopes, oversee safe equipment isolation and re-energization, and perform work-acceptance reviews.
  • Partner with the Lead CFE to monitor BMS/EPMS trends and coordinate technical interfaces at Grey Space/White Space demarcation points.
  • Provide immediate technical expertise during S1–S4 incidents to stabilize critical assets and support electrical availability and data hall thermal service-level objectives.
  • Lead forensic RCAs for electrical and mechanical faults, power-quality disturbances, and cross-functional excursions; compile system logs, relay targets, and technical evidence to prevent recurrence and substantiate causal-responsibility allocations.
  • Oversee electrical and mechanical configuration integrity, validate redline updates to as-built electrical one-lines and mechanical P&IDs, and contribute technical analysis to monthly KPI/issues reports.
  • Work onsite during Monday–Friday day operations, interface as needed across rotational 12-hour shifts, and provide 24/7/365 escalation support for S1/S2 emergencies, commissioning/IST activities, and planned de-energized outage windows.
