About The Position

The IT Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as an expert in business process analysis, optimization, and continuous improvement. The role partners with business leaders, technical teams, and stakeholders to assess current operations, design future-state processes, and implement solutions that improve efficiency, quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction. The SME provides strategic guidance, mentors cross-functional teams, and helps ensure processes align with organizational objectives, industry best practices, and governance standards. The role also provides technical expertise and leadership for enterprise IT and cybersecurity initiatives supporting secure government information systems. It advises government leadership on emerging technologies, cybersecurity practices, and risk mitigation; supports enterprise planning and cybersecurity modernization; and contributes to system lifecycle engineering, assessments, audits, and vulnerability remediation. An active Secret Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship are required. The listed pay range for Illinois is $100,000–$175,000 USD.

Requirements

Active Secret Security Clearance.
Must be a United States Citizen.
Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by its clients, customers, or prime contractors.
Strong understanding of organizational management practices.
Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
Excellent facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to interpret business strategy and translate it into operational improvements.
Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities.
Experience developing dashboards and performance metrics.
Ability to balance strategic planning with tactical execution.

Responsibilities

Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert for enterprise IT and cyber initiatives.
Provide technical leadership for the design, implementation, modernization, and sustainment of secure government information systems.
Advise government leadership on emerging technologies, cybersecurity best practices, and technical risk mitigation strategies.
Support enterprise planning and ensure alignment with mission requirements and cybersecurity objectives.
Evaluate existing IT infrastructure and recommend improvements to performance, security, resiliency, and operational efficiency.
Support implementation and maintenance of Zero Trust principles and cybersecurity modernization efforts.
Assist with cybersecurity engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle.
Participate in cybersecurity assessments, audits, inspections, and vulnerability remediation efforts.
Partner with business leaders, technical teams, and stakeholders to evaluate current operations, design future-state processes, and implement improvements.
Provide strategic guidance and mentor cross-functional teams to align business processes with organizational objectives, industry best practices, and governance standards.
