About The Position

SAIC’s Identity and Data Sciences Laboratory (IDSL) is seeking a Biometric Subject Matter Expert to lead and support applied research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) of advanced biometric and identity solutions for national security clients. The SME will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, data scientists, and program managers to advance biometric technologies and digital identity capabilities, with the goal of enhancing operational performance. The position supports major government programs and mission-critical initiatives in biometrics and identity.

The role is hybrid, with three days onsite and two days remote. The position requires expertise in biometrics, identity technologies, testing, evaluation, and technical communication, as well as the ability to coordinate with government, industry, and technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience requirement: Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience, Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience, or PhD and 1+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of experience in RDT&E, identity, biometrics, or systems engineering.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to perform testing of biometric and identity technologies, including technology, scenario, and operational testing.
• Expertise in biometric and identity technologies, including facial, iris, and fingerprint recognition.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including document review and editing with attention to technical detail.
• Strong background in test and evaluation, operational assessment, and performance validation.

Nice To Haves

• Top Secret clearance is preferred.
• Experience working with DHS or other federal agency users of biometric systems.
• Experience with emerging technology assessment and transition.
• Familiarity with biometric testing standards.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and technical documentation best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level expertise in biometrics, identity technologies, and digital identity solutions.
• Translate client mission needs into structured, actionable, and achievable RDT&E plans for biometric and identity technologies.
• Coordinate with technical, programmatic, and government stakeholders to support project planning and execution and assist with decision-making.
• Collaborate with technical teams to develop and deliver technical documentation, briefings, and actionable recommendations.
• Support technical communication across government, industry, and stakeholder organizations.
