About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician 2 for their St. Louis, MO location. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within mission-critical facilities. The technician will perform planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response, serving as an expert technical resource. A key aspect of this role is maintaining critical data center systems with an uptime requirement of better than 99.999%. The position involves oversight of junior technicians and contractors, analysis of system requirements, installation of new equipment, and troubleshooting of electronic units and electrical circuits. The technician will also perform daily walk-throughs, manage mechanical and electrical systems during emergencies, identify material needs, maintain vendor relationships, and develop reliability reports. Training of junior technicians is also a responsibility.

Requirements

Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or GED.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret SCI with Poly clearance.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans, construction documents, safety requirements, OEM operating and maintenance instructions, job specifications, and MOP's.
Ability to organize safe maintenance principles for regulating and scheduling planned and unplanned activities, as well as establish and meet deadlines for work/projects.
Ability to interpret building codes and local and federal regulations as they relate to installations and apply them as required by the site.
Ability to maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations.
Ability to operate and inspect emergency power generation and reliability equipment; determining systems are functioning properly and that maintenance is performed in accordance with MOPs, manufacturer's literature, and industry best practices.
Ability to utilize hand tools and test equipment to perform maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
Ability to analyze, plan, and perform Preventive Maintenance of Electrical systems throughout the facility.
Must be able to troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of power density and parity with HVAC system capacities.

Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work on M.C. Dean, Inc. projects anywhere.
Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
Ability to work at various heights up to 60 feet and climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
Ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.
Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Nice To Haves

Active Top-Secret SCI with Poly clearance highly preferred.
Licensed or Certified by a national or state certification program at the Master or Journeyman level, preferred.
Knowledge of building automation systems and their components.

Responsibilities

Ensuring all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the facility are operating at peak efficiency through planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response.
Serving as an expert technical resource reporting to a program manager, interacting with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO) and third-party vendors.
Providing oversight of contractors’ roles for electrical duties.
Analyzing systems requirements, conducting research on equipment and procedures, and recommending modifications to new and existing systems.
Installing new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
Utilizing safe working practices, including lockout/tagout and MSDS.
Troubleshooting, repairing, and making modifications to malfunctioning electronic units, printed circuit boards, set-up sensing mechanisms, and advanced electrical circuits.
Performing maintenance, installations, and service repairs on critical data center systems and industrial electrical equipment, including power distribution components/wiring, electronic components, and lighting systems.
Utilizing test equipment, including infrared scanning and vibration analyzing meters, for system and equipment diagnostics.
Performing daily walk-throughs of the facility, documenting parameters such as power availability, temperature, humidity, and alarm status.
Monitoring and making necessary changes to site BAS, following site MOP's & SOPs.
Managing mechanical and electrical systems in emergency situations, including HVAC components, power distribution equipment, generator systems, load transfer and control systems, UPS systems, DC power systems, and fire and life safety.
Identifying required materials and parts for maintenance and repair, and preparing cost estimates for parts, equipment, and supplies.
Maintaining relationships with major vendor accounts.
Scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing critical environment vendors during maintenance, emergency, and break/fix events.
Setting up and operating electrical data capturing devices (Dranetz, Fluke PQA, etc.).
Creating and reviewing MOPs and SOPs to ensure up-to-date techniques and safety guidelines are utilized.
Collecting and generating internal and vendor field service reports.
Developing reliability reports to identify areas for increased efficiency, resiliency, or to mitigate unplanned downtime.
Conducting training with junior technicians and other staff personnel on electrical equipment/systems for maintenance, repairs, and operation.
