About The Position

The Electrical Foreman is a skilled leadership position responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of electrical crews on commercial and industrial projects. This role requires advanced knowledge of electrical systems, including strong journeyman-level expertise, and a thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC). The Electrical Foreman ensures that all installations meet safety standards, project specifications, and quality expectations. Key responsibilities include managing day-to-day field operations, collaborating with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades, and mentoring team members. Success in this role is demonstrated by effective communication, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to manage labor, materials, and schedules to meet project goals.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, transformers, distribution panels, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations governing construction and installation practices to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute electrical installations accurately.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and practices, including OSHA regulations, to maintain a safe work environment and prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Understanding of electrical materials, tools, and equipment used in construction and maintenance projects, including their specifications, applications, and proper handling procedures.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot electrical problems, diagnose faults, and implement effective solutions to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Basic project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation, to coordinate electrical projects effectively and ensure timely completion.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing a team of electricians and apprentices by assigning tasks, setting clear expectations, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
  • Overseeing daily crew production and providing constructive feedback and timely performance evaluations.
  • Training new hires and apprentices, while also providing ongoing development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and job performance.
  • Planning and scheduling electrical work to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordinating with project managers, other trades, and reviewing blueprints and specifications to allocate labor and resources effectively.
  • Conducting regular inspections of work in progress to ensure compliance with project standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Identifying deficiencies and implementing corrective actions to maintain high-quality workmanship.
  • Enforcing all safety policies and procedures.
  • Conducting daily safety meetings and ensuring that team members use proper PPE and follow OSHA and company safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Managing procurement, inventory, and proper use of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensuring timely maintenance and repair of equipment as needed to avoid delays.
  • Maintaining clear and consistent communication with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Coordinating field activities with other trades to ensure efficient and safe jobsite operations.
  • Troubleshooting on-site issues related to labor, materials, or technical challenges.
  • Implementing effective solutions to keep the project on schedule and within scope.
  • Maintaining accurate records of job progress, labor hours, safety incidents, and material usage.
  • Preparing and submitting required reports to management and project stakeholders.
  • Addressing conflicts among crew members, subcontractors, or external partners.
  • Using strong communication and mediation skills to resolve disputes and foster a collaborative working environment.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
