About The Position

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Electrical Engineer III to join our talented team at our office in Burlington, Massachusetts. In this role, you will assist in planning, designing, and directing engineering projects within the business unit. The assignments contain specific tasks on project teams, and these individuals are expected to use their education, experience, and knowledge to resolve the engineering problems and tasks they are assigned.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years Engineering/design experience in the building design industry (for example: power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, branch circuitry, etc.).
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year College or University.
  • Expertise in computer operations for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit).
  • Thorough knowledge of Electrical system design and applicable codes.
  • Experience with software for performing electrical engineering calculations (SKM, EasyPower, AmpCALC, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with medium voltage systems, electrical hazardous classified areas, and telecommunications systems.
  • EIT or Professional engineer (PE).

Responsibilities

  • Assists Project Lead with design computations and quantity estimates, and develops probable construction cost estimates.
  • Performs the role of Project Lead for less complex projects within the business unit.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Prepares reports, specifications, plans, and supports construction for projects.
  • Selects equipment based on recommendations of the Project Lead and fills out equipment schedules.
  • Creates drawings of their own designs and produces markups to be incorporated in drawings by the design team.
  • Researches design options and documents findings for the Project Lead.
  • Keeps Project Lead and/or Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
  • Researches code issues and communicates with code officials, as well as other disciplines.
  • Makes clear, well-organized, and effective presentations to a technical audience.
  • Ensures that drawings and designs are per company quality, production, and design standards.
  • Mentors, supports, and guides new Engineers or early-in-career professionals with project execution.
  • Makes calculations using engineering formulas and skills for design, such as service sizing, short circuit calculations, voltage drop and heat derating, ground conductor sizing, and detailed connected/demand load calculations.
  • Creates specialized drawings, such as operations matrices, elevations, or details, and diagrams.
  • Performs additional tasks or special projects as assigned.

Benefits

  • The salary offered for this role is between $113,000 and $150,000, but the actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set, and education.
