Electrical Engineer (Analog) or EE II

Custom Manufacturing and Engineering•Pinellas Park, FL

About The Position

Custom Manufacturing & Engineering (CME) is hiring an Electrical Engineer (Analog), at either the Electrical Engineer I or Electrical Engineer II level, to design, develop, test, and support electronic hardware for aerospace, defense, space, industrial, and energy applications. This is a hands-on engineering role involving circuit design, simulation, prototyping, laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and collaboration with manufacturing and other technical teams. Engineers can work across the product lifecycle, from concept and prototype through verification, manufacturing, and production. The Electrical Engineer I level is intended for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who will work with guidance while developing independent design, analysis, testing, and documentation skills. The Electrical Engineer II level is intended for an engineer who can take greater independent ownership of circuit designs and technical problems, make and explain engineering decisions, troubleshoot difficult hardware issues, and help advance designs through development and production. The level offered will depend on the candidate’s education, experience, technical capabilities, and demonstrated ability to perform the role. CME is an award-winning Tampa Bay small business with nearly three decades of experience designing and manufacturing custom-engineered and build-to-print products and systems. Its engineering, manufacturing, testing, and production capabilities are within one organization. The company describes a collaborative, hands-on environment that values problem-solving, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement, and notes that the schedule includes a four-day workweek most weeks. The position may require access to export-controlled goods, technology, or technical data under ITAR and/or EAR. Applicants must meet applicable U.S. Person requirements. CME is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • For Electrical Engineer I: 0–2 years of relevant electrical engineering experience; relevant academic, internship, co-op, research, military technical, senior design, or project experience may demonstrate practical ability.
  • For Electrical Engineer II: typically 2–5+ years of relevant experience, with the education and experience section also stating four or more years for EE II.
  • Foundational or practical knowledge of analog circuit design, including areas such as op amps, filters, power supplies, power conversion, sensing, signal conditioning, and control circuitry.
  • Hands-on experience with common electronics laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and function generators.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools such as OrCAD, SPICE, LTspice, or comparable platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, datasheets, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • For EE II: professional experience designing, analyzing, testing, and troubleshooting analog or mixed-signal circuits.
  • For EE II: ability to translate system or product requirements into practical circuit-level designs.
  • For EE II: experience selecting components and assessing tradeoffs involving performance, cost, reliability, availability, and manufacturability.
  • For EE II: ability to investigate technical problems independently, determine root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to develop clear engineering documentation and communicate technical findings and design decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other technical functions.
  • For EE II: ability to manage multiple engineering assignments and drive work from concept through completion.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • For EE I: ability and willingness to learn from experienced engineers while progressively taking ownership of engineering assignments.
  • Applicants must meet applicable U.S. Person requirements if access to export-controlled goods, technology, or technical data is required.

Nice To Haves

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • For Electrical Engineer II: experience with aerospace, defense, military, space, power electronics, embedded hardware, or ruggedized electronic systems.
  • For Electrical Engineer I: hands-on projects, internships, senior design, robotics, electronics projects, research, military experience, or maker projects involving analog electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop analog and mixed-signal circuits for power, sensing, signal conditioning, control, and mission-critical systems.
  • Develop and evaluate circuits involving op amps, filters, power supplies, converters, sensors, and control circuitry.
  • Perform schematic capture and support PCB design and development.
  • Use SPICE, LTspice, OrCAD, or similar tools to simulate, analyze, validate, and refine designs.
  • Build, prototype, test, and troubleshoot electronic hardware in the laboratory.
  • Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, function generators, and other test equipment to characterize circuit performance.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes, and implement design improvements.
  • Select electronic components based on electrical requirements, performance, availability, reliability, and application needs.
  • Work with suppliers and technical vendors to identify components and engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, manufacturing, quality, and test personnel throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop schematics, specifications, test procedures, technical reports, and other engineering documentation.
  • Support designs from concept and prototype through verification, manufacturing, and production.
  • Participate in design reviews and communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations.
  • Support additional engineering activities as part of CME’s collaborative, hands-on engineering team.
  • At the Electrical Engineer II level, independently own more complex technical assignments, make and defend engineering decisions, investigate and resolve difficult hardware problems, and help move designs through development and production.
  • At the Electrical Engineer I level, develop the ability to independently design, analyze, test, and document electronic hardware while working with guidance from experienced engineers.

Benefits
