About The Position

As an Electrical Engineer 1 in Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group, you will support projects involving the design and modernization of electrical systems and large power components for existing nuclear plants, restart projects, small modular reactors, and advanced reactor facilities. The work also supports plant life-extension and digital upgrade initiatives. You will work under the direction of senior engineers and receive daily technical supervision, training, and support from engineers and subject matter experts. The role provides hands-on experience applying electrical engineering concepts to nuclear power projects. You will contribute to engineering calculations, power-system analysis, equipment selection and integration, design documentation, and project delivery. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, designers, and drafters, and may interface with client Operations and Systems Engineering representatives. The position may include unescorted access to nuclear generating stations for walkdowns, installation and testing observations, and refueling outage support. You will also review station-specific technical information and gain experience with facility design and licensing bases. Under supervision, you may qualify as a preparer of engineering deliverables and sign off as a qualified preparer on critical project documentation. The role offers mentorship and exposure to the steps toward professional engineering licensure. Sargent & Lundy describes its Nuclear Power Group as supporting clean, carbon-free energy through nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, including advanced reactor technology, plant life extensions, digital modernization, coal-to-nuclear conversion initiatives, and international new-build projects. Employees may use technology and digital tools where relevant, while remaining accountable for their work and applying professional judgment.
