Saminco Solutions LLC and American Traction Solutions Inc. are sister companies that design, manufacture, and support electric propulsion, power electronics, motor control, and industrial power technologies. The Electrical and Mechanical Designer/Drafter supports the design and development of electrical systems and power-conversion products for mining, rail, transit, electric vehicle, marine, and industrial applications. The role works closely with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and service teams to turn engineering concepts, legacy drawings, field information, and customer requirements into accurate, production-ready documentation. The position is based on site at the companies’ Fort Myers, Florida headquarters, in a collaborative, hands-on engineering environment, and reports to the VP of Engineering. The designer/drafter develops and maintains electrical schematics, wiring and interconnection diagrams, wire and cable schedules, panel layouts, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. The role also creates detailed 2D mechanical drawings and 3D solid models using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. Work may be based on engineering sketches, markups, specifications, legacy documentation, field measurements, verbal instructions, and engineering direction. Documentation includes part, assembly, fabrication, enclosure, sheet-metal, weldment, and installation drawings, as well as exploded views, layouts, assembly instructions, and production documentation. The role checks drawings for completeness, dimensional accuracy, fit, function, electrical consistency, manufacturability, and compliance with company drafting standards. It supports manufacturing, assembly, test, purchasing, quality, and field service teams with drawing questions and documentation discrepancies, and helps resolve design, fabrication, assembly, and installation issues. The designer/drafter maintains drawing and part numbers, revision levels, component references, wire labels, and related records; processes Engineering Change Orders; and updates controlled documentation with redlines and as-built information. Additional work includes supporting prototypes, product improvements, reverse engineering, engineering change requests, equipment surveys, and verification of existing electrical systems when required. The role helps ensure mechanical designs accommodate electrical devices, wiring, cooling, service access, and environmental requirements, and develops reusable drafting resources such as templates, symbols, libraries, title blocks, and standards. It maintains organized electronic drawing files and released documentation, participates in design reviews, follows safety, quality, and confidentiality requirements, and uses sound judgment when applying AI tools and testing automation for repetitive drafting work. Work is primarily performed in an office and manufacturing environment, with occasional time on the manufacturing floor to verify equipment, wiring, dimensions, or installations. Occasional travel may be required. Applicants must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States and complete employment verification, including Form I-9; work-authorization sponsorship is not offered.
