About The Position

The Election Protection Manager is primarily responsible for the oversight and execution of NARF’s Election Protection efforts in the 2026 Election Cycle. The Manager will research potential partners, recruit poll monitors, conduct trainings, manage selection and execution of poll monitoring locations (including communications with relevant Tribes), assist the Voting Rights Project Manager with logistics and execution, report on the outcomes of the poll watching effort, and prepare for and execute witness testimony if needed. This position will work with colleagues, clients, and partners to achieve shared goals in support of the Voting Rights Practice Group, which engages in litigation nationwide, advocates for Native American voting rights legislation, conducts research, crafts policy, encourages and protects civic engagement, and assists tribes advocating for greater voter access for their communities.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a field relevant to the scope of work; JD preferred.
  • Knowledge of Native American or Alaska Native culture and history, experience and/or committed interest in working with tribes.
  • Ability to fully complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical skills. Critical and creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to proofread and edit written material for contextual, grammatical, typographical, spelling, or legal citation errors.
  • Ability to work with and protect confidential information.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Work may occasionally require a high level of mental effort and strain when performing a high volume of tasks and other essential duties.
  • Ability to foster, work within, and support a collaborative, team-based environment, including within large and diverse coalitions.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and follow instruction effectively from a diverse group of people; ability to provide information and assistance with ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Occasional travel will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Voting Rights Practice Group to identify and target priority states for Election Protection.
  • Research and communicate with potential partners, recruit poll monitors, and successfully execute poll monitoring program.
  • Prepare and work with partners to ensure the completion of relevant trainings to poll monitors.
  • Oversee and prepare witness testimony for litigation, as needed.
  • Support staff attorneys in the representation of the organization and the clients before various community and stakeholder groups.
  • Upon conclusion of the program, write a final report of findings and outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervising attorney.
