About The Position

We are looking for a collaborative and strategic Senior Manager, Election Protection to drive our work with our coalition partners. This role will collaborate with teams across the organization as well as with many of our coalition partners. This is a full-time, temporary role starting July 16, 2026 and ending January 31, 2027. This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Impact & Strategy, and is remote anywhere within the lower 48 United States. Preference for this person to be located in Washington, DC.

Requirements

  • Experience managing coalitions or groups that represent stakeholders with diverse interests to achieve a goal
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the unique aspects of our national political dynamic as well as knowledge of funders and decision-makers at the national level, with a preference for candidates who have existing relationships with these people and organizations
  • Experience leading successful local- or state-level public advocacy campaigns and organizing related to democracy, elections, voting rights and civil rights, including creating and managing campaign or annual plans, from conception through implementation
  • Ability to travel 3-4 times per year for team and/or all staff retreats
  • Ability to work in-person in the DC or state office at least 2 days per week.
  • Willing to have a social media presence on behalf of Common Cause, including being tagged on posts and creating content on behalf of the organization (as needed, Common Cause will provide accounts for staff members to use)
  • Per our nonpartisan policy, Common Cause staff members may not currently be in elected office (or running for office); on the Steering Committee or Finance Committee for any political candidate; or affiliated with the leadership of a political party

Responsibilities

  • Operationalize our 2026 election protection strategy within voting and election coalitions
  • Create and implement a plan to operationalize strategy with our coalition partners
  • Lead coalition meetings and working groups to drive strategy forward with our coalition(s) partners
  • Plan meetings and coordinate timelines and projects with coalition partners
  • Create and maintain a resource hub accessible across coalitions
  • Develop a strategy to regularly communicate our work to coalitions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with critical voting and election coalition(s) partners
  • Set up mechanisms to hold coalition(s) partners accountable for shared goals
  • Ensure alignment across coalitions
  • Navigate and resolve conflicts and misunderstandings with coalition partners
  • Progress monitor to ensure we are hitting our goals
  • Track progress on key metrics to ensure the coalition is reaching shared goals
  • Create reports for coalition partners and funders
  • Other duties as assigned
